Real Project | Education
George Eliot, Coventry University, Jordan Well, Coventry, CV1 5QT
A series of sensory rooms for Coventry University Students Union with varying stimuli levels for different users needs, informed by students and inspired by nature

Project Information
Each room reflects thoughtful design choices guided by student feedback, neurodiversity research, and biophilic inspiration, helping every student find the environment that feels right for them.
Cloud Room
A gentle, “up in the clouds” retreat for hypersensitive users. Soft whites and beiges, plush seating, and diffused lighting create a peaceful space to unwind and reset. Minimalist design reduces sensory load and promotes calm focus.

Forest Room
A forest-inspired environment for those seeking a balanced sensory experience. Earthy greens, natural textures, and mixed seating options provide comfort and gentle engagement. Organic forms and mid-level lighting foster a cosy, grounding atmosphere.
Reef Room
A vibrant, “under the sea” space designed for sensory seekers. Bright blues, playful lighting, and tactile, movement-friendly furniture create an energising and interactive environment that encourages exploration and creativity.
